Why not catch a great movie while you're off work this week? Bicycle Thieves, De Sica's classic neorealist movie is showing at the Phoenix, East Finchley. Hailed around the world as one of the greatest movies ever made, Vittorio De Sica's Academy Award-winning Bicycle Thieves defined an era in cinema. In post-war poverty-stricken Rome a man, hoping to support his desperate family with a new job, loses his bicycle. Not exactly a feel-good movie by the sound of it but it makes a change from all those syrup-laden movies they show us on the box over the festive season ..
