The Phoenix is showing Che: Part Two from Friday 20th Feb to Thurs 26th Feb
A stand-alone film in its own right, part two of Soderbergh’s biopic follows Che at the height of his fame as he resurfaces in Bolivia to organise the Latin American Revolution. Though driven by lofty ideals, the film highlights the often mundane existence of the guerrilla fighter and the fundamental boredom of war. More introspective and personal the Part One, the sequel tracks Guevara’s decline in a campaign that ultimately failed. His tenacity and sacrifice, however, ensured that he remained a hero to followers around the world. Benecio del Toro won the best actor award at Cannes for this performance and it is a career-defining role - definitely not to be missed.
